Hello! I am excited to be a part of the Federal Heights Elementary Kindergarten team! I believe one of the most important things I can do as a kindergarten teacher is to inspire curiosity and instill a lifelong love of learning in my students, and I endeavor to accomplish this in my classroom every single day.
I have been in education in one form or another for most of my career, even before I became a teacher. I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Earth Sciences with a minor in Biological Sciences from University of Northern Colorado. After graduting from UNC, I worked for several years as a youth rock climbing instructor at Earth Treks Climbing Center in Golden. Through teaching climbing, I discovered my passion for helping youngsters achieve their potential. I later enrolled at Metropolitan State University of Denver and completed my post-baccalaureate elementary teacher licensure program. I completed my student teaching in kindergarten at another school in Adams 12 and I worked in the district as a student monitor, a substitute teacher, and an instructional paraprofessional (in kindergarten) while I was completing my teaching program.
I have lived in Colorado my entire life. I grew up in Littleton and I currently live in Thornton with my partner Jessica, our two dogs: Bobo and Chloe. In my spare time, I like to get outside and experience nature. However, I am equally as happy to curl up on the couch with a good sci-fi book or movie.
